We’re looking for an experienced operations data and insight analyst to join us who can support the team as we put into action new tools, technologies and techniques to meet Thames Water’s current and future challenges.
The successful analyst will support the delivery of insight and analysis within the UK’s largest Water and Wastewater Company. What you’ll be doing as an Operations Data & Insight AnalystTypical tasks in this role include building logic, automation of processes, reporting, providing analysis and insight, and working with tools such as SQL, PowerBI, Python and Azure data factory, including Databricks to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Working with large data sets drawn from a wide variety of internal and external sources, including environmental data, survey feedback and operational data.
- Design and interrogation of databases; carrying out data transformations and liaising with the business to improve our ways of working.
- Supporting the business and working with stakeholders to design, build, and maintain a range of visualisation dashboards and reports, managing stakeholder expectations.
- Analyse data to derive insights and support decision-making processes.
- Document ETL processes, data models, and report specifications for transparency and knowledge sharing.
- Continuously monitor and optimise ETL processes and reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate analysis findings effectively to stakeholders.
What you should bring to the role- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisation, prioritisation, and stakeholder communication skills, including senior management.
- Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and working with operational datasets; quick to adapt to technical challenges.
- Proficient in Excel, Power Query, SQL, and Power BI; experience with Python and statistical modelling is advantageous.
- Skilled in learning new tools and technologies; familiarity with Azure Data Factory and building data pipelines is a plus.
- Confident in presenting complex information clearly and effectively to varied audiences; personable and collaborative.
- Holds a relevant degree (e.g., Science, Maths, Geography) or equivalent experience, with prior work in a utility company being beneficial.
