We’re looking for two Capital Operations Manager to join Thames Water on a permanent basis. One for London and one for Thames Valley & Home Counties.
This is a site-based leadership role, and you will be expected to travel and work on Operational sites across the region.
36 hours per week - Monday to Friday.
What you will be doing as a Capital Operations Manager - This role will oversee the capital programmes and operational projects across Water Production and Water Networks in either London or Thames Valley and Home Counties.
- You will be responsible for the management, prioritisation and mitigation of regional risks ensuring that they are well managed and organised from project initiation through to commissioning and handover. This includes identification (visible on APS) through to delivery, including the integration of companywide programmes with key stakeholders to ensure that all risks are comprehensively and accurately logged on the risk register, enabling risk and funding prioritisation decisions to be made.
- Working with system planning to identify gaps between current, medium and long-term investment requirements and developing short to medium term investment proposals to present to the business for consideration.
- For large capital investment schemes, you will be the accountable operational representative, providing support, challenge, and assurance to ensure successful delivery and outcomes. Working closely and collaboratively with key operations and business stakeholders to analyse risk and balance priorities across all regions in support of water network and production investment across the AMP, reporting performance on the programme across Water against the agreed targets.
- The role is accountable for the engagement, coordination, and support of operational input into the capital solutions associated with the AMP delivery programme.
- The post holder will ensure the achievement of sustainable outcomes, representing Operations with responsibility for the identification, development, acceptance and implementation of solutions which deliver the required benefits across the AMP.
- Overseeing delivery of all capital works across Water, you will ensure frequent project updates are communicated to operations and project interactions and dependencies are identified and planned for full alignment with all governance frameworks that are in place.
- Your team will consist of up to 30 people, with potential of up to 5 – 10 direct reports.

What should you bring to the role? - Broad business knowledge and demonstrable commercial acumen.
- A track record in project & programme management.
- Able to demonstrate ability to deliver projects to meet both commercial and technical objectives.
- Extensive operational understanding with a proven track record of delivering outcomes and budgets and working closely with capital delivery teams.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and effectively communicate data and information to drive performance.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential alongside the ability to influence high-level internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-starting resilient and tenacious under pressure.
- Project Management, or proven track record in delivering business projects.
- Full driving license.
