Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Network Protection Investigator to join Thames Water permanently.

You will guide a field team to successfully solve cases of sewer misuse.
No two days are the same and if you enjoy a challenge and thrive on working in an environment that offers variety, where you will be liaising with multiple businesses, this is the ideal role for you.

The role is based in Beckton and Riverside, however, you will need to be flexible in your working location and willing to travel across London to support your field team.

What will you be doing as a Senior Network Protection Investigator
  • You will set high standards and carry out quality monitoring alongside your team in the field to ensure we are solving cases efficiently.
  • Through regular 1-2-1s and coaching sessions, you will lead an improvement in your team's performance and thus the service and experience of our customers.
  • You will ensure your team always acts professional with early personal interventions as required.
  • You will liaise with customers and businesses and support them to improve their grease management practices.
  • You will prepare cases for enforcement action, ensuring the required evidence has been gathered and presented suitably.
  • It can be a tough environment, and you will need to keep your team motivated to meet targets and to be passionate about what we do. You will need to communicate and share a range of messages.
  •  As we continuously improve how we manage sewer misuse, you will lead and embed these changes, so they become reality.
  • Undertake specialist activities and small projects as required, providing recommendations for future strategy as appropriate.
  • You will gather the necessary evidence and intelligence on events using multiple sources. All information gathered must be appropriate to enable presentation to a civil or criminal standard.
  • In cases of persistent sewer misuse, you will escalate the case preparing the necessary documentation in support of cost recovery and prosecution under the provisions of The Water Industry Act 1991.

What should you bring to the role?
  • We are looking for someone who can develop a team and achieve results by tackling sewer misuse at its source.
  • You will have a strong focus on and good working knowledge of health and safety.
  • Ideally you will have an enforcement background and experience working with and managing customer relationships.
  • You will have an aptitude for understanding the technical and legal aspects of the role, to ensure successful and robust interpretation and solutions.
  • You will need to be competent in using IT systems to be able to allocate cases to your team and keep the business always informed.
  • Strong written, verbal technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • Due to the nature of the role, a clean driving license is essential.

What’s in it for you?
  • Offering a salary up to £38,000 per annum depending on skills and experience plus a car allowance on top.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
  • Generous Paternity Leave, including 4 weeks paid and an optional 2 weeks unpaid.
  • Enhanced Maternity Leave, 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay!
  • Ongoing performance development reviews to help you be your best and identify growth opportunities.
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
