Job Description

In this role, you will be accountable for the development and delivery of plans to transform performance with respect to Thames Water's Environmental obligations, including pollution and flooding. Success will be measured through improvements in Customer Service and River Health.

What you’ll be doing as a Head of Operational Performance (Environment)
You will work with colleagues across Thames Water to develop strategies and plans that will help us to turnaround environmental performance. This will include:
  • Utilising data and insight to understand the route cause of operational incidents and formulate plans including a range of interventions that will prevent operational incidents from occurring or mitigate the impact of them through the nature and effectiveness of our response.
  • Undertake research to explore industry best practice, approaches being undertaken in similar industries that may be transferable and stimulate innovation that will help us to achieve our goals more effectively and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Customers and key stakeholders such as Regulators and Consumer Groups, to communicate our plans, listen to feedback and build confidence.
  • Ensure clarity and consistency in tracking and reporting of key environmental metrics
  • Input into Strategic Planning decisions such as the preparation of business plans and the development of business cases that will enable investment required to support those plans.
This is a hybrid role with the base location negotiable. It will require travel throughout the Thames Water Region with a requirement for 2-3 days at per week at Thames Water sites to ensure engagement with the team and wider internal/external stakeholders.

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience of Senior Operational Leadership with demonstrable ability to engage and influence teams across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of leading organisational change and continuous improvement, including programme/project management.
  • Excellent communication skills, having the ability to proactively engage and influence stakeholders both internally and externally and develop sustainable, long-lasting relationships.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to develop and manage both capital and operational finances.
  • This role does not require an Environmental background or experience in Environmental Management
