Thames Water is looking for a Stakeholder Engagement Manager to play a vital role in delivering our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP)—ensuring a resilient wastewater service for today and generations to come.

What you’ll be doing as a Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP)

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Developing and managing a robust stakeholder engagement strategy for DWMP Cycle 2.
  • Building clear, accessible communications to enhance understanding of Thames Water’s long-term wastewater plans.
  • Leading engagement with key partners, including Regulators (Defra, Environment Agency), Risk Management Authorities (RMAs), and Customer Challenge Groups.
  • Organizing and facilitating forums, briefings, and meetings to ensure collaborative decision-making.

Consultation Management
  • Owning and delivering consultation activities for the DWMP strategic plan—from initial engagement through to publication and response management.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintaining transparency with stakeholders.

Customer-Centric Planning
  • Ensuring the customer perspective is embedded in DWMP decision-making by working closely with Thames Water’s customer research team.
  • Commissioning and utilizing customer insights to shape wastewater planning.

Enhancing the DWMP GIS Portal
  • Acting as the key user representative for Thames Water’s interactive GIS portal, ensuring stakeholders can easily access and engage with DWMP data.
  • Collaborating with Thames Digital teams to enhance portal functionality.

Communication & Internal Collaboration
  • Working closely with other strategic planning teams (e.g. Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP), Long-Term Delivery Strategy (LTDS), Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP)) to ensure alignment.
  • Engaging with internal teams to drive effective communication and coordination.
  • Providing clear, concise written summaries of technical content for diverse audiences.
  • Representing Thames Water at industry-wide discussions, influencing policy and best practices across the sector.

What you should bring to the role
  • Strong communication & influencing skills – the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project & programme management experience – ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
  • Strategic thinking – the ability to see the big picture while managing detailed engagement activities.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation – preferably within utilities, infrastructure, or environmental planning.
