Join Thames Water as a Design Estimator – Shape the Future of Essential Services!

Are you looking for a role where your work directly impacts communities for generations to come? Thames Water is seeking a Design Estimator to join our Developer Services team. In this vital role, you’ll help drive growth across the region by ensuring new customers can access life’s essential service – clean water.
Our Design team manages over 15,000 new connections each year, working with everyone from individual homeowners to major developers. Whether it’s designing new water connections, adopting infrastructure, or overseeing sewer works, you’ll play a key part in delivering safe, cost-effective solutions that keep our network flowing smoothly.

If you’re ready to take on a role that combines technical expertise, customer service, and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you!

What you will be doing as the Design Estimator

  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to streamline the delivery of new connections while safeguarding Thames Water’s assets.
  • Process Improvement – Identify and implement innovative ways to enhance processes and improve the customer experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure all work adheres to company policies, industry regulations, and key performance targets, maintaining the highest health and safety standards, including CDM (Construction Design & Management) regulations.
What you should bring to the role:
  • We’re looking for someone with outstanding customer service skills, who can be flexible and positive to ever changing customer and business needs. Strong communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships to deliver exceptional customer service.

  • You must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Previous experience of dealing with customer complaints, both written and verbal, is advantageous.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn quickly and build knowledge of company processes and policies. Attention to detail will be vital, as you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all work is correct and compliant.
  • You’ll have exceptional organisation ability and have good problem-solving skills. You’ll be a team player who’s able to work in a pressurised environment and meet demanding targets. You must be IT literate and understand internal systems and processes. Knowledge of water network operational processes is desirable but not essential.
  • Applicants with experience of HSE in construction and/or CDM will be viewed favourably
