This is a fantastic opportunity for a Tunnel Engineer to provide technical engineering advice to the Operational and Engineering Teams and support the overall governance of the management of tunnels and shafts in the London & Thames Valley region. You will have the opportunity to report to the Tunnels and Shafts Lead Engineer, and as the Tunnel Engineer, you will support the condition assessment process for tunnels and associated assets within the business.
What you’ll be doing as a Tunnel EngineerIn this role, you will undertake inspections of tunnels and associated assets, producing technical reports and recommendations, directing remedial works, and ensure we are compliant with engineering-based industry standards.
You will be providing technical engineering advice on larger projects specifically related to Tunnels & shafts. Day to day you will:
- Provide advice on matters regarding tunnels and associated assets and take ownership of a condition assessment and inspection programme.
- Assess technical information, undertake inspections of tunnels and associated assets, providing technical reports, recommendations, and guidance to the business for the business to be compliant with engineering based with engineering-based industry standards.
- Support the review and development of larger engineering solutions by reviewing design submissions, and drawings and producing check calculations.
- Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships to improve business performance.
What you should bring to the role- Be a Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil engineering or a recognised HNC or equivalent in a field related to tunnel engineering. Must have relevant experience in the industry.
- Tunnel Engineering experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex information.
- Must have a Driving licence – this role covers the Thames Water patch.
- Comfortable with confined spaces as you will be confined space trained
- Proven background in inspecting civil structures, writing technical reports and providing technical engineering recommendations and guidance.
- Be a proactive thinker and the ability to deal with complex issues
