Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Project Lead Waste Operations to join Thames Water permanently.

As a successful candidate, your role will be to provide essential planning and co-ordination of complex large sewer activity in central London to facilitate significant capital investment projects.
  • 36 hours per week Monday – Friday 07:30 – 15:36 however we are flexible with starting and finishing times.
  • Offering a salary up to £55,000 depending on skills and experience plus you will receive a car allowance on top.
  • Abbey Mills - Stratford - E15 2RN.

The role will require a large focus on engagement and communication with key stakeholders to ensure all activities are planned effectively and efficiently. Responsible for delivering network infrastructure and process improvements to the sewage network, to ensure KPIs are met, with a key focus on customer journey.

The role provides a great opportunity for someone to build on existing skills and develop within Thames Water as well as the opportunity to learn new skills.

The role would suit someone who has experience in delivery, planning and managing activities and although water industry experience is preferable, it is not essential, transferable skills have often come from construction, Military, utility, engineering, and planning roles.

What you will be doing as a Project Lead Waste Operations?

You will manage specific activities within a designated area, including leading briefed projects and providing support on larger-scale projects. This role will incorporate some or all the accountabilities listed below.
  • Develop project briefs with clients ensuring scope delivers the required solutions.
  • Work with delivers to design solutions that meet the multiple needs of the client and business
  • Co-ordinate briefed projects and activities, provide and deliver reports, presentations and analysis of data as necessary.
  • Support the department by liaising or attending meetings with key internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • You will need to develop safe systems of work for complex tasks including confined space activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of H&S are managed correctly, by completing authorisations permits and site inspections
  • Review and Deliver projects and program in line with CDM 2015 to ensure H&S Standards are met in line with business and legislation compliance.
  • The role will have a large focus on being site-based on the various construction sites and will require some attendance in the evenings, nights and potential weekends.
  • To monitor and report on all aspects of the projects that you are directly accountable for, including H&S, finance, programme, risk and opportunity.
  • Working with contractors to manage project change, ensuring timely delivery to programme and managing overall project budgets and costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures and external Regulations and best practices.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

What should you bring to the role?
  • Previous working experience in the water or a similar industry.
  • Good communication skills and proactive approach.
  • Experience in managing Health and Safety.
  • Good understanding of customer expectations.
  • An awareness of business procedures and processes.
  • Ability to liaise at all levels and influence beyond the span of control.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Due to the nature of the role a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Willing to enter the sewage network once essential training is completed.
