Job Description

“Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader…they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role – always about the goal.” – Lisa Haisha.

Sheridan Maine is seeking a motivated Audit Assistant Manager to join a dynamic UK accountancy firm in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of high-quality services across a diverse client base while developing your leadership and technical skills within a growing, supportive accountancy practice.

You will work with a broad range of clients, from large corporate entities and fast-growing owner-managed businesses to not-for-profit organisations and educational institutions. You’ll play a vital role in overseeing client assignments, maintaining strong relationships, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities as an Audit Assistant Manager:
  • Managing and delivering a range of client assignments to a high standard, on time and within budget.

  • Taking ownership of a small portfolio of clients across various sectors.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for client queries and developing strong working relationships.

  • Supervising, coaching, and supporting junior staff, including conducting performance reviews and providing feedback.

  • Monitoring progress and communicating effectively with senior team members on emerging issues.

  • Supporting business development and networking initiatives as required.

  • Maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to your role and client base.

The successful Audit Assistant Manager should possess the following:
  • Are ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).

  • Have proven experience in an accountancy practice setting, ideally with exposure to audit, accounts preparation, or advisory services.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Are highly organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.

  • Enjoy developing and mentoring junior staff.

  • Have access to transport and a full driving licence (essential for client visits).

  • 2+ years of experience in a UK practice.

What We Offer:
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and office closure during the festive period.

  • Flexible and hybrid working options.

  • Competitive contributory pension scheme.

  • Life assurance cover.

  • Health and wellbeing support including 24/7 online GP and counselling services.

  • Employee perks and discount platform.

  • Wellbeing app and regular internal activities.

  • Ongoing personal and professional development support.

If you're ready to take on a new challenge and make a difference in a leading organisation, we want to hear from you! Please click on “apply” as soon as possible.

You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to respond to unsuccessful applicants. Therefore, if we have not responded to your application within five days, please assume that on this occasion your application has not been successful.
