Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and respected organisation to recruit a Head of Finance. Based in a location that is easily commutable from Bath and Bristol, this is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function in a commercially focused and strategically important role.
 
Role Overview
The Head of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of  the function ensuring robust financial control, delivering insight to support strategic decision-making, and working closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
 
This is a broad role that would suit an experienced finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident in both operational and strategic areas of finance.
 
Key responsibilities of the Head of Finance include:
  • Lead and manage the finance function, ensuring high standards of financial reporting, control, and compliance.
  • Maintain oversight of key financial and operational aspects of projects, including budgeting, cash flow, credit, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to promote financial awareness and discipline.
  • Lead on the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end statutory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies within the finance function.
 
The successful Head of Finance:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role with a strong commercial and strategic focus.
  • Demonstrates a solid working knowledge of project accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop a finance team.
