Job Description

The Commercial Operations Domestic Waste team is responsible for ensuring that the process of wastewater being transferred to our sewage treatment sites from sources such as cess pits, septic tanks & portable toilets, via our commercial customers, is undertaken safely and sustainably. We record and process over 10,000 transactions each month from our 200+ commercial customers across 33 domestic waste reception sites. These activities produce a turnover of £8 million per annum providing a key source of income for wastewater operations.

A key component of this role will be to expand our operations, opening new facilities within the Thames Water estate, work with key stakeholders to find suitable sites and plan and develop these new facilities.

What you’ll be doing as a Wastewater Field Operations Specialist:

This role will involve developing new waste stream opportunities and working across departments to secure permissions to expand commercial opportunities. Other duties will include:
  • Responsible for overseeing and arranging mechanical and electrical maintenance for fixed plant assets at all domestic waste reception sites.
  • Conducting H&S & waste acceptance & Audits on all domestic waste loggers, day-to-day management of customers and contractors, resolving issues and liaising on their behalf with different areas of the business.
  • Responsibility for domestic waste projects.
  • Assisting with the new waste acceptance regulations.
  • Customer documentation – waste transfer documents.
  • Managing the maintenance budget and procurement with contractors/suppliers.
  • Out-of-hours support for the wider team.
What you should bring to the role
  • Previous experience within the wastewater industry.
  • Coming from an engineering background would be beneficial.
  • Have previous experience in Project or Contractor Management.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and associated audits.
  • Ability to work on an out-of-hours rota, 1 in 4.
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence.

  • Offering between £38,000 to £44,000 per annum depending on experience and skills.
  • Car Allowance of £4,500 per annum.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays).
