Job Description

As part of the Protective Security Team, you will be directing and controlling the performance of our security services and ensuring some of our critical assets and corporate locations are secure.

As well as managing the services to protect our infrastructure assets and office locations you will contribute to ensuring there is a robust response to operational and security incidents.

You will play a key role in mitigating the risks to Thame Water from national security threats including terrorism, unlawful protesters, and crime.

What you’ll be doing as a Security Services Lead.

You will be an ambassador for promoting security within the business to ensure Thames Water’s people, processes, premises, and asset security is maintained.
  • As a subject matter expert, you will act as the main point of contact for the business and service provider concerning all third-party security activities. (static guarding, mobile patrolling, temporary electronic security systems) across the Thames Water estate.
  • Proactive management of the associated services including regular engagement with peers from the service providers, monitoring of KPIs and SLAs, produce reports for TWUL senior management & financial management.
  • Own and maintain proactive patrol routes and associated resources, ensuring all agreed sites are patrolled as required, incidents are responded to and overall performance for audit purposes and reporting on any incidents, omissions, or breaches of KPIs.
  • Own site security procedures for corporate locations as well as the investigation of security incidents & review of site security risk assessments.
  • Attend ad hoc regional meetings representing Protective Security Team, with suppliers, regional business functions and internal team meetings as required.
  • Execute additional tasks to meet departmental/team project-related, development and change objectives.
  • Provide practical security advice aligned with relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Promote common standards and alignment of security policy and practice across Thames Water including responsibility for compliance assessments, waivers & the adoption of best practices.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing new concepts, technologies, and solutions to challenges.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders including, Intelligence Agencies, Specialist Police Units, Local Resilience Forums & Regulators including DEFRA and DWI.
  • Create reports, provide briefings, and update systems.
  • Testing and exercising our security arrangements to ensure that our people, systems, plans, and procedures are compliant with requirements.
  • Planning and responsibility for bespoke security projects which will involve working with project teams to oversee security arrangements and other initiatives.
What you should bring to the role
  • Have a background in security (Security services, protective security, intelligence, security management, or risk management)
  • Have experience of working in a regulated environment i.e., utilities, government departments, national infrastructure etc.
  • Experience in managing static and mobile guarding services as a service provider
  • Experience in interpreting data and producing MI reports and dashboards
  • Excellent organisational skills – must be able to prioritise own workload and react to changing priorities.
  • UK driving license required.
  • Have experience in conducting security risk assessments and report writing.
  • Have experience in investigating security incidents.
  • Be able to communicate at all levels, present to an audience and build strong relationships.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and strong negotiation and people-influencing skills.
  • Be proficient in MS Office. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI)
  • Self-motivated, committed, and organised.

  • Offering a salary between £46,000 and £52,000 per annum depending on experience and skills.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays).
  • £4,500 car allowance.
