Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Thames Water as a Night Shift Network Service Technician. This is an exciting and varied customer-facing role where day to day you will be resolving customer network challenges to ensure minimal disruption to customer supply. You will be meeting and helping different people every day, working on a variety of projects ensuring that the best service is given to our customers. We provide all the relevant training to succeed in the role so keen to welcome new team members with the right behaviours and willingness to do a great job for our customers.
  • We are paying up to £40,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. This role also comes with a commercial van with fuel card for business mileage and all personal protective equipment and tools included.
  • This role is based at Epsom, KT17 1BW
  • The working pattern is a rolling four week pattern primarily Monday to Thursday but with one weekend in four.
What you’ll be doing as a Network Service Technician
  • Collaborating with repair and maintenance teams to do planned and unplanned work and investigating clean water networks to resolve poor performance including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and loss of supply out in the field.
  • You will also help control burst mains ensuring isolation to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Looking after valve operations and water sampling and valve checks and planning.
  • Work well within a team collaborating with other networks service technicians working different working patterns to ensure 24 hour coverage of the region.
  • Supporting on complex tasks which can only be completed at night to maintain supplies to our customers.
  • As the role involves driving daily, the ideal candidate will hold a full UK driving licence and be happy to drive between jobs
What should you bring to the role?
All task specific training is provided but we are looking for candidates who demonstrate the below behaviours:
  • Have excellent customer service experience.
  • Have a can-do and positive attitude.
  • Be initiative-taking.
  • Be assured in completing tasks to the best of your ability.
  • Have excellent time management.
  • Have a solution focussed attitude.
  • Having a basic knowledge of domestic plumbing or water mains and leakage would be advantageous but not essential as full training is provided.
  • Our customers are at the heart of everything we do so previous customer service experience within a constantly changing environment is essential.

  • The standard working week starts at 19:45pm and finishes at 06:30am, Monday to Thursday as part of a rolling four week rota with one weekend shit in four.
  • We are paying up to £40,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

  • 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus, bank holidays) 
  • Contributory pension.
