The Senior Transformation Manager is a key role supporting the Operations Turnaround Plan.  They will be accountable for the successful delivery of Thames Water’s most critical business programmes.

You will help establish strategy, solve business problems and design and deliver critical business initiatives within the Asset Operations and Capital Delivery function.  These initiatives may include costs efficiency projects, regulatory changes, operating model changes or environmental projects impacting key PCs such as pollutions.  As a member of the Strategic Operations and Transformation Team, you will be part of a high performing group of transformation professionals that is being relied on to deliver the critical changes needed over the next few years that will enable a step change in our operational performance.  An exciting time to join a key team delivering important change.

This will be achieved by operating in a number of different environments.  Sometimes directing a matrix team, sometimes supporting a matrix team and sometimes operating as an individual delivering a piece of work. 

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Transformation Manager
  • Oversee successful delivery of the business-critical programmes.
  • Acts as the single point of contact regarding programme delivery status.
  • Build and steer the programme and project teams.
  • Keep the programme sponsor fully up to date and engaged regarding the progress of role holder’s programme.
  • Internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Management of inter-dependencies with other programmes in the overall Thames Water operational portfolio.
  • Influences a professional services culture across the business.
  • You will influence and be responsible for strategic decisions while encouraging change using new ways of thinking and industry insights.
  • Work with all Thames Water teams to ensure requirements are captured and delivered in line with what our customers and operational colleagues would expect to see from a world class organisation.
  • Ensures recognition of high performance, tackling under performance and developing talent, articulating the benefits of change to stakeholders at all levels
Base Location – Hybrid Clearwater Court in Reading or our offices in Slough.
Working Pattern or hours – 36 hours a week.
Other immediate demands – travel across sites as required for projects.

What you should bring to the role 
We are looking for a self-motivated, determined, and pragmatic Senior Transformation Manager that has experience in both complex operational turnaround programmes (ideally in the utilities industry) and/or large-scale efficiency programmes. 

You will have the stature and gravitas to be able to work with senior stakeholders across the business, ensuring critical business programmes are well defined, justified and successfully managed to enable the realisation of the benefits stated in the business case.
  • Ability to steer matrix and virtual teams whilst also comfortable delivering on an individual basis.
  • Experience managing change in multi-million-pound operational areas.
  • Ability to direct programmes and change initiatives to deliver major transformation.
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills at Director level.
  • Consulting background desirable
  • Ability to strive towards industry ‘best in class’ standards & methodologies.
