Are you commercially sharp, trend-aware and ready to take ownership of a thriving product category? Pertemps is partnering with our client to find a Plant Buyer who can bring fresh ideas, strategic thinking and real energy to their expanding business.

 
This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who wants to shape seasonal ranges, influence buying strategy and work closely with suppliers across the UK and Europe.  Role Responsibilities 

    • Lead the development of the seasonal plant category, driving sales, managing stock levels and delivering strong margins.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers across the UK and Europe, including regular communication and site visits.
    • Negotiate pricing, quality and terms confidently to secure outstanding value without compromising on product standards.
    • Manage and plan delivery schedules throughout the season, ensuring full compliance with plant import regulations and domestic requirements.
    • Respond quickly to seasonal changes, anticipate risks and implement solutions to maintain availability and minimise wastage.
    • Monitor market trends, customer buying behaviour and competitor activity, analysing data and recommending improvements.
    • Develop annual promotional plans in collaboration with the Marketing and Social Media teams.
    • Work closely with the wider Gardens department to align the plant category with broader commercial goals.
 
 About You 

    • Proven retail buying experience, ideally within seasonal, perishable or fast-moving categories.
    • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills with excellent attention to detail.
    • Confident analysing trends, forecasting demand and identifying opportunities for growth.
    • Highly organised with clear communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
    • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
    • Enjoy working as part of a team but capable of driving projects independently.
    • Willing to travel across the UK and Europe for trade shows, supplier meetings and store visits.
