Job Description
As a Shunter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles and trailers within a controlled environment.
Location: Ashford (Kent)
Pay Rate: £15.62 per hour
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off rota
Duration: 4-week placement (starting end of April)
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely manoeuvring HGVs and trailers in and around the site, including parking, coupling, and uncoupling.
- Conducting pre- and post-movement safety checks on vehicles and trailers.
- Coordinating with team members to ensure vehicles are positioned in loading bays or designated areas efficiently.
- Using hand signals or communication systems to guide movements and maintain site safety.
- Identifying and reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Supporting overall site operations to ensure smooth logistical workflows.
- Previous experience as a Shunter or in a similar role.
- Attention to detail and commitment to adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota.
- A Basic DBS certificate is essential for this role.
