About the Role of Early Years Teaching Specialist:
As an Early Years Teaching Specialist, you will play a key role in guiding trainees through the journey to achieve Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality training, assessing trainee progress, and providing pastoral support. Additionally, you will work closely with employers and trainees to ensure programme compliance and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assessment:
o Conduct termly skills reviews to identify knowledge and skills gaps.
o Perform workplace observations and liaise with mentors to develop tailored training plans.
o Maintain accurate trainee records to ensure progress and compliance.

• Training:
o Deliver curriculum-aligned training sessions and tutorials.
o Provide guidance on safeguarding, Prevent, British values, and additional learning support needs.
• Co-ordination and Support:
o Monitor trainee progress and set completion targets.
o Facilitate placement arrangements, liaise with employers, and provide wellbeing support.
o Ensure timely evidence submission via the ePortfolio system (Mosaic).

• Administration:
o Keep records of trainee visits, progress, and assessments.
o Recommend EYTS awards and contribute to quality assurance activities.
• Additional Duties:
o Deliver EYITT briefings to support recruitment efforts.
o Participate in CPD activities, standardisation meetings, and Ofsted preparations.

Essential Criteria for the Early Years Teaching Specialist:
• A recognised teaching qualification, ideally Level 5 or higher (Level 3 may be considered).
• Substantial experience as a Teacher, Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, or in Early Years settings.
• Strong knowledge of teaching programmes and supporting diverse learners.
• Proven experience mentoring and coaching trainee teachers.
• Ability to collaborate with employers to enhance programme delivery.
• Proficiency in IT systems, including ePortfolios.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with a willingness to travel.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
• Assessor, teaching, or IQA qualifications.
