HR Manager
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Car Allowance

An established and growing international engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the UK HR function. This is a senior, hands-on role, offering the opportunity to shape people strategy, embed robust HR processes, and act as a trusted partner to the leadership team during a period of growth and change.
The Role
Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will take full ownership of HR across a UK workforce of under 100 employees, supported by an HR Administrator. You will operate as a key member of the leadership team, balancing strategic input with day-to-day operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the HR function and contribute to business strategy and organisational design
Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, processes, and systems
Manage all employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with UK employment law
Oversee visa compliance and international employee considerations
Drive KPI-led people management, producing HR dashboards and insight for senior leaders
Manage end-to-end recruitment, training, apprenticeships, and talent development
Support performance management and address under performance where required
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and automation
About You
CIPD Level 5 qualified
5+ years’ experience in an HR Manager or Senior HR role
Background in manufacturing, engineering, or similarly operational environments preferred
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law
Proven experience implementing HR processes, policies, and KPIs
Commercially aware, analytical, resilient, and highly proactive
Confident influencing at all levels with excellent communication skills
