Global Tier 1 Manufacturer in the West Midlands are currently looking for a Plant Manager to join the team and help drive major managerial change in their state-of-the-art world class manufacturing facility with the business in a strong place and a good order book.
As Plant Manager you will take full responsibility for Production, Planning, and Logistics functions. The successful candidate will drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the plant, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and departmental strategy development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fast paced, complex manufacturing environments within a Tier 1/OEM Automotive business.
Role: Plant Manager Salary: up to £105,000 per annum + bonus + benefits Location: West Midlands Key Responsibilities for the Plant Manager
Oversee all production processes, prioritizing team member safety and adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
- Lead and motivate production, planning, and logistics teams, developing a high-performance culture with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Manage cost efficiency—including team size and overheads—while maximizing productivity and quality.
- Interface directly with customers and suppliers at a senior level, handling feedback in a professional, structured manner.
- Develop and deploy strategies, improvement plans, and best practices across all functions.
- Ensure customer requirements are fully satisfied through strong leadership and process rigor.
- Maintain the highest standards in delivery targets, resource management, and departmental objectives.
Key Requirements for the Plant Manager: - Tangible record of Success in a Senior Management role within an OEM/Tier 1 Environment within Automotive
- Qualification in Engineering/Management (degree level ideally)
- Significant people management experience in a high-volume manufacturing or first-tier automotive supplier environment, with a sound knowledge of modern production management techniques.
- Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and developing team growth.
- Strong financial acumen, including product profitability and cost structure analysis.
- Strong stakeholder management both internally & externally
- A solid exposure to Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement
