Pertemps Scotland are delighted to be recruiting Recycling Operatives on behalf of our public sector client to support a busy and essential Waste & Cleansing Department based in Edinburgh East.

This is a great opportunity to secure long-term, ongoing work in a stable public sector environment with competitive pay and full training provided.

Please note: this role does NOT involve emptying bins with a bin lorry.

Location: Edinburgh East
Rate of pay: £13.79 per hour, rising to £14.98 per hour after 12 weeks
Hours of work:
4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern
Mon–Fri: 07:30 – 19:00
Sat & Sun: 07:30 – 18:00
60-minute unpaid break included

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting members of the public with correct waste disposal
• Providing clear advice on where to deposit different waste items
• General site and labouring duties
• Operating the weighbridge
• Handling phone enquiries
• Dealing calmly and professionally with customers, including challenging situations
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised site

What We’re Looking For

• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy individuals
• Strong customer service skills
• Basic IT skills (training provided)
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Health & safety conscious
• Comfortable working outdoors and on your feet in all weather conditions
• Heavy lifting may be required
