Instead, you’ll work across a diverse estate of academic buildings, labs, accommodation and public spaces, maintaining systems that matter, but without the constant pressure of manufacturing downtime.
The RoleYou will provide planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a large campus, covering:
- HVAC and ventilation systems
- LPHW boiler plant and gas-fired equipment
- Plumbing and water services
- Refrigeration and associated plant
- BMS-linked systems, motors and mechanical assets
Your day-to-day will include:
- Responding to breakdowns in a calm, controlled environment
- Carrying out structured PPMs and remedial works
- Fault-finding across a broad range of building services
- Supporting minor projects, refurbishments and upgrades
- Coordinating with other trades and specialist contractors
- Ensuring compliance, permits and safety standards are met
- Keeping accurate digital job and service records

About YouThis role suits an engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving and doing things properly especially someone looking to step away from industrial or factory-based maintenance.
Essential:- Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience
- Level 3 qualification in Plumbing & Heating, HVAC or Refrigeration
- Unvented Hot Water (G3 / 3345 or equivalent)
- Experience with PPM and reactive maintenance
- Strong fault-finding capability
- Understanding of statutory compliance
- Confined spaces / working at height awareness
- Asbestos awareness
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable using electronic job systems
