Credit Controller | £30,000 + Bonus + Benefits Location: Hybrid / Glasgow City Centre
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in the utilities sector, seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join their dynamic and collaborative team. About the Role As Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing the sales ledger, pursuing outstanding business-to-business payments, resolving queries promptly, and maintaining effective customer relationships. Your work will directly support the company’s cash flow and credit risk objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Collect outstanding B2B payments by phone, email and written communication in line with agreed terms
- Maintain accurate records of communication, payment plans and account activity using D365
- Monitor customer accounts and allocate incoming payments efficiently
- Issue monthly statements and weekly aged debt reports
- Meet cash collection and telephony targets to reduce debt exposure
- Reconcile accounts and ensure correct posting of cash and credit notes
- Resolve customer queries working closely with internal teams
- Escalate high-risk accounts or persistent late payers where necessary
- Assess new customers' creditworthiness and recommend credit limits
- Participate in legal processes, forecasting and query resolution meetings
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in credit control processes
Skills and Experience- Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable
- Experience in the utilities sector is desirable
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (D365 experience preferred)
- CICM qualification (or working towards) is an advantage
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
Education- Degree desirable
- Minimum of 3 Highers (or equivalent)
- CICM qualification or equivalent practical experience
