About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Housing Officer to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide a high-quality, customer-focused tenancy and neighbourhood management service to general needs and sheltered residents. You will support sustainable tenancies, foster vibrant communities, and ensure compliance with tenancy and lease agreements.
If you are passionate about delivering exceptional service and improving the quality of life for residents, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Tenancy and Lease Management: Oversee day-to-day management of tenancies, leases, and licences, ensuring compliance and addressing breaches promptly.
  • Supporting Residents: Build strong relationships with residents, supporting vulnerable individuals by linking them to local services and providing high-quality advice.
  • Fire Safety and Estate Management: Identify and address fire safety issues and work with relevant teams to reduce risks.
  • Audits and Voids Management: Conduct tenancy audits, manage voids effectively, and minimise rent loss.
  • Legal and Enforcement Actions: Handle investigations into illegal occupancy, sub-letting, and tenancy breaches. Serve notices, prepare court cases, and represent the council in tribunal and court hearings.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): Lead on ASB management and deliver a victim-centred approach for domestic violence cases.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain effective relationships with tenants, resident associations, health services, voluntary groups, and other partners.
  • Customer Service: Respond to complaints, emergencies, and enquiries, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement.
  • Leadership: Deputise for the housing manager and supervise housing support officers when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who is:
  • Knowledgeable: Strong understanding of tenancy and leasehold legislation, housing policies, and case law.
  • Customer-Focused: Skilled in building trust and delivering high-quality service to residents.
  • Organised: Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive: Confident in taking initiative to resolve tenancy breaches, ASB, and complex housing cases.
  • Adaptable: Ready to respond to emergencies and work outside of normal hours when necessary.
  • Collaborative: Skilled at working with stakeholders and leading multi-agency meetings.
  • Empathetic: Committed to supporting vulnerable residents and identifying safeguarding concerns.

Additional Information:
