As Senior Finance Business Partner you will lead a small, collaborative finance team, working closely with senior stakeholders to drive financial strategy and performance and provides the opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making at a senior level.
The RoleThe Senior Finance Business Partner will provide strategic financial leadership while managing operational finance processes. The role involves leading a small team, overseeing planning, forecasting, and reporting, and providing guidance and insight to budget holders across the organisation. Excellent communication, influencing, and line management skills are essential to support financial decision-making and promote best practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy and Planning - Support the Associate Director of Finance in shaping finance strategy and planning processes. Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term scenario planning.
Finance Management - Produce and present monthly management accounts to executives, board members, and committees. Monitor and manage the organisation’s financial position. Provide financial advice and actionable insights to budget holders. Support business development through business cases and project evaluations.
Leadership and Team Development - Lead, motivate, and develop a small, high-performing finance team. Foster a business partner approach to finance across the organisation. Engage, support, and challenge the team through strong line management and clear communication.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance - Support the maintenance of the risk register and implement compliance processes. Assist with internal and external audits and financial statement preparation.
Technology and Supplier Management - Develop, maintain, and implement finance systems while contributing to wider IT and change initiatives. Manage relationships with external suppliers and assess performance.
General - Provide professional financial advice and support to managers and staff. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
Your Experience- Proven experience in finance business partnering within a professional membership organisation
- Experience managing staff in hybrid or multi-site settings, including line management of a small team
- Strong influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to present complex financial data clearly and provide actionable insights
- Commercially minded, proactive problem-solver with initiative and drive
- Inclusive team player focused on impact and delivery excellence
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Flexible approach to work, including occasional out-of-hours tasks
- Empathy with the professional membership community served by the organisation
