Job Description
Location: Calderdale Council Area (Halifax & Bradford)
Start Date: Beginning of May
Rate: £250 – £300 per day
We are seeking an experienced Fire & Security Service Engineer operating on a subcontract (CIS) basis to support a maintenance contract across council-owned buildings within the Calderdale region, including Halifax and Bradford.
Work will be carried out across a variety of sites, including social housing, offices, and public buildings. This role suits an engineer who can work independently and is confident across multiple fire and security systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across fire and security systems
- Service, fault-find, and repair fire alarm systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot CCTV and associated security systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately
- Liaise with on-site contacts, including council staff and building managers
- Work safely within occupied buildings
- Proven experience as a Fire & Security Service Engineer (essential)
- Strong fault-finding skills across fire alarms and CCTV systems
- Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. BS 5839)
- Experience working in commercial/public sector environments
- Full UK driving licence
- Own vehicle, tools, and test equipment
- £250 – £300 per day (CIS only)
- 1–2 month contract with early May start
- Varied work across council buildings
- Potential for extension depending on workload
