Transport Controller – Night Shift
Temp to Perm Opportunity
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (continental)
Hours: 7:00pm – 7:00am (occasional 9:00pm–9:00am cover required)
Pay: £14.68 per hour
The Opportunity Our client is offering an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced and growing transport business, working as part of a high-energy night shift team. While transport planning is a key part of the role, outstanding customer service is at the heart of everything they do. For this reason, we are prioritising attitude, enthusiasm, and strong communication skills over direct industry experience.
This is a temp-to-perm role with long-term opportunities for the right candidate.
The Role Reporting to a Team Leader, you will act as the first point of contact for customers and drivers, ensuring a smooth end-to-end service. The role requires flexibility, strong organisation, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally via phone and email in a fast-paced environment.
You will be responsible for delivering a high level of service at all times, working proactively to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service to both clients and drivers
- Respond to customer requests professionally and efficiently
- Allocate jobs to drivers and plan routes to meet response time targets
- Maintain continuous communication with customers and drivers throughout the process
- Handle live customer complaints calmly and professionally
- Accurately cost and price jobs in line with agreed processes
- Monitor and manage real-time resource availability
- Act as a professional point of contact via inbound and outbound calls and email
Candidate Requirements
- Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in service delivery or remote resource management (desirable)
- Confident problem-solver able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills
- Good administrative and basic computer skills
- Positive attitude with the ability to adapt to change
- Cost-conscious mindset with a focus on business priorities
- Ability to commit to either PM or night shifts on a long-term basis
Hours of Work
- 7:00pm – 7:00am
- 4 on / 4 off continental shift pattern
- Weekend working included as per rota
