Job Description

Position: Group Financial Controller
Location: Weston-Super-Mare
Working Pattern: Full-time (onsite)
Salary Package: Competitive, dependent on experience

Usual working hours are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday. Holidays start at 23 days plus Bank holidays, and increase with years of service.

The role will come with an electric company car. You will also receive staff discount on vehicles, used cars, servicing / MOTs.

There is also a contributory pension scheme in place.

Role Overview

The role will focus on preparing monthly management accounts, annual year end trial balances, and annual business plans. Establishing procedures and maintaining staff levels that ensure accounting control is maintained, working capital is kept to a minimum, and benchmarks are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for multiple sites and franchises.
  • Implement and maintain financial controls.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to finalise accounts and provide support.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting dashboards.
  • Organise and manage the Finance Department.
  • Manage cash, working capital, and cash forecasting.
  • Consolidate monthly Group accounts.
  • Prepare weekly Group KPI Analysis.
  • Ensure timely Manufacturer submissions.
  • Maintain system integrity.
  • Maintain balance sheets, control accounts, and working capital.
  • Conduct monthly VAT checks and quarterly submissions.
  • Prepare annual budgets.
  • Undertake projects to develop internal controls and standardise processes.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Coordinate bi-annual vehicle stock counts and reconciliations.
  • Conduct internal audits and support year-end account preparation.
  • Provide financial support across the business.

Requirements:
  • Experience managing a finance team including managing management accountants
  • Experience in the motor trade would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VBA, Power Query).
  • Knowledge of Power BI is advantageous.
  • Deadline-driven and able to work under pressure.
  • Understanding of KPIs and management accounts.
  • Experience with Keyloop 'Drive' or Kerridge Rev 8.
  • Comfortable travelling to various locations.
  • CCAB accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA).
