Job Title: General Engineer

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday]

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering company based in Telford, for a General Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on role that involves working across a variety of machining tasks, with a focus on both milling and turning. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality, precision components to support ongoing projects and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate milling and turning machines (manual and/or CNC depending on experience) to produce precision components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Work to tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Carry out general workshop engineering duties, supporting across different projects as required. 
• Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and ensure safe operation.
• Perform inspection of finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Maintain equipment, ensuring machines are kept in good working condition.
• Assist colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, team-focused workshop environment.
• Follow company health & safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working area.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in an engineering/machining role.
• Strong knowledge of both milling and turning processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with CNC programming or setting is advantageous, but not essential.
• Strong awareness of health and safety in a workshop environment.
