Location: Wolverhampton
Pay Rate: £16.00 – £17.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, up to 40 hours per week (07:00 – 17:00)
Job Overview:
Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Fabricator / Steel Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business in Wolverhampton. This is a hands-on role working with a variety of steel fabrication machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cutting machinery including laser cutters, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, shearing machines, and band saws
- Use forming and shaping equipment such as press brakes, plate rollers, stamping presses, and ironworkers
- Carry out machining tasks using CNC milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and surface grinders
- Perform welding duties using MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment
- Handle materials safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, and hoisting equipment
- Complete finishing tasks including grinding, sandblasting, polishing, and applying coatings
- Read and interpret technical drawings and work to precise measurements
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in steel fabrication or a similar role
- Ability to operate a range of fabrication machinery
- Welding experience (MIG/TIG preferred)
- Good understanding of engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
