About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker / Machinist to join our team. This hands-on role involves the setup and operation of conventional machines including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and components for production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders to manufacture and modify components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Measure and inspect components using precision measuring instruments (micrometres, callipers, gauges).
- Fit and assemble parts to close tolerances.
- Maintain and repair existing tooling and fixtures.
- Ensure all work is performed to high standards of quality and safety.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tool designs and performance.
- Proven experience as a tool maker or manual machinist.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Skilled in the use of conventional machine tools and hand-finishing techniques.
- Good understanding of materials and machining tolerances.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship preferred.
