Permanent Role | Telford-Based | Salary up to £38,000 (DOE)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Tester looking for a stable, permanent role where quality engineering, technical challenge, and teamwork genuinely matter?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering business operating at the forefront of precision handling systems within the marine sector. Based primarily in Telford, you’ll play a key role in the build, installation, and testing of high-spec mechanical and hydraulic equipment—both in the factory and occasionally on customer sites.

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Mechanical fitting and assembly of precision-engineered systems
• Installation of hydraulic components and pipework
• Setting, testing, and commissioning machinery to a high standard
• Reading and working from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics
• Using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment
• Working to demanding time schedules without compromising quality
• Supporting fault-finding and continuous improvement activities
• Maintaining accurate job timesheets and documentation
• Actively contributing to daily toolbox talks and safety initiatives
• Mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge
• Representing the business professionally on customer sites when required

What We’re Looking For 

• A time-served Mechanical Fitter with a recognised apprenticeship
• (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
• Strong hands-on experience in mechanical fitting and testing
• Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems and schematics
• Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety, Quality, and best practice
• Flexible attitude to overtime (including short-notice and weekends when required)

Desirable (but not essential)
Testing experience would be really advantageous but not essential - willing to consider CV's for fitters 
Full UK driving licence
Valid passport for occasional site travel
