About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager (with a dotted line to Finance), you will:
- Ensure customer order requirements are met for manufactured and factored products.
 - Deliver capacity planning to keep production running at optimal levels.
 - Collaborate across departments to align purchasing with operational needs.
 - Lead, coach, and motivate a team, setting priorities and ensuring performance targets are achieved.
 
This is a hands-on strategic role, giving you the chance to shape procurement processes, optimise supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, parts, and equipment.
 - Identify, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
 - Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality, or compliance issues.
 - Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier evaluations.
 - Analyse market trends to anticipate supply risks and cost fluctuations.
 - Communication & Collaboration
 - Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams and external partners.
 - Clarify order queries and advise of any significant changes to plans.
 - Provide reporting on performance metrics, including supplier KPIs and stock levels.
 
Team Leadership & Development
- Allocate and prioritise tasks, motivate, and support your team.
 - Manage performance, recognising talent and addressing underperformance.
 - Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across departments.
 - Compliance & Standards
 - Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001).
 
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a procurement manager, ideally in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
 - Strong knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation.
 - Familiarity with manufacturing materials (e.g., metals, plastics, electronics) and production timelines.
 - Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
 - Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
 - CIPS or APICS certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
